W05P05 - Back home

This ended being a very tough week, so basically no time to go shooting at all... I had to go back to the pictures I took 2 weeks ago at home... I selected this one that I really enjoyed, mostly because of the textures and reflexes.
It was taken with my T1i, at 1/20, f/10.0 and ISO400. I used a Cannon 38-105 lens all the way down to 105mm, ~160mm equivalent on a 35mm camera.
Hope you enjoy!

W04P04 - Florianópolis!

We spent last week on Florianópolis, one of my favorite places in Brazil... Weather was far from perfect, a weird virus made us spent some time "alone", but the place is really awesome... I selected 2 pictures that I believe better fit this blog, but I'll post more on my other blog soon.

First one was taken at on a wonderful viewpoint in the path to the Conceição Lagoon, taken at 1/100, f/7.1 and ISO 80. Minor cropping, white balance adjust and saturation reduction done on Picasa.

Second was taken on a nice restaurant called "Ponta das Caranhas". These birds stayed there forever! It was raining, so basically lack of colors, no shadows and the blurred background (due to rain and depth of field) made me think on B&W. I use to say that a good B&W photo must have B's and W's, not only grays, so contrast is the key. I then used a red filter on the conversion, ensuring it looked good. Picture taken at 1/50 (IS on) f/3.5, ISO 100. All tweaks done on Picasa as well.

Pictures were taken with my Canon S1IS. By the way, I'm considering a micro 4/3s for traveling... suggestions?

Hope you enjoy!

W03P03 - Shooting Home

Today I'm posting something very new... Early today I realized I wouldn't be able to shoot outside, so I decided to look around our living room and try to find objects to shoot. And big surprise... there was plenty! This one I'm posting was hard to choose, there are more on my flickr and on my other blog (check the "links" session). I chose it basically for the simplicity at the same time the strength of it... It really marked me...

Well, technically speaking this was taken on a strong back-lit  scenario, and about 4-5 pictures were needed to ensure I got the right exposure (I also shot RAW allowing me some extra tweaks on Canon's Digital Photo Professional app).

I used my Canon T1i, with the 50mm fixed lens, at f/1.8,1/100s and ISO 100, what meant lots of light in the camera :)

Hope you liked it, I can ensure, I loved making it, and definitely recommend you looking around and trying to find beauty. I'm sure you will find it.

W02P02 - Here comes the second...

I would call this one "Dry Shelter" :)

This picture was taken with a Canon T1i and a 70-300 Canon lens all the way down to 300mm (476mm equivalent due to the cropping factor). It was on Iso 400, f/7.1 and 1/800. Place pictured was inside the "Parque Portugal" AKA "Lagoa do Taquaral" in Campinas, SP, Brazil.
It was not actually raining, the drops are from a water fountain in the middle of the lake.
Hope you enjoy,
Ricardo

W01P01 - First one..

Choosing the first picture was very complex... You know, first impressions and all... All the ones I was considering selecting seemed somehow not good enough for starting. Then I realized that this is the goal... getting better...

So here it comes, my first picture of this new blog. 51 more to come :)

This was made with a Canon S5iS, 1/250s, F/8.0, ISO 80. Basic fixes (cropping, contrast mostly) done with Picasa.

And from the bottom of my heart, a wonderful 2010, full of color, joy and Jesus!
