W13P13 - Flowers behind bars

This is one of these pictures that I pre-visualized for weeks before I could actually do it. We have these very (I would say) agressive barbed wires around our condo, and I was just waiting the day one of these flowers woud appear in a position I could capture a flower against the wires at the back.

Well, last Sunday was the day, the weather was perfect, I repositioned the flower a bit and here it comes... the antagonism of the flower and the barbed wires.

Taken on the T1i, with the 70-300mm lens. Some bracketing was needed so the right depth of field was achieved, but I believe it worked. Final settings were: ISO 400, f/14 and 1/125s.

Let me know your thoughts!

W12P12 - Aline B&W Version 2

A friend suggested an new edit on the photo, where the earring is also highlighted. As it was on the shaded side of the face, I had to actually highlight it a bit so it really shined trough.

Preferences?

W12P12 - Aline B&W

I took this picture last Sunday, using a single flash, white umbrella, etc, etc....
The only difference is that I spent some more time working on this one on Photoshop Elements.

Basically I used 3 layers, one with the picture itself, where I made some minor skin corrections, applied some lipstick and enhanced the green eye.

Second layer was an orange filter, preparing for the B&W conversion by reducing contrast and smoothing the skin a bit more.

Third layer was the actual B&W conversion.

I then opened holes on the last 2 layers so the eye popped up. (very lightelly, so it didn't became too much)...

I personally liked the result, very "orkut-like" :)

W11P11 - Here Comes Felipe!!!!

This weekend I had the chance to take some pictures of Felipe, the son of our good friends Heraldo and Dani while they were at our home. He is a real star!!!!! what a great kid...

These 2 pictures were taken while we were trying a single flash lighting scheme, and using a radio trigger plugged on the hot shoe (instead of the traditional cable...) Cable Freedom!!!!! :)

These ones were made on F/8.0 (with flash on 1/2 power) and F/11 (flash at full capacity). Both on 1/200s, with the 28-105 lens. Flash had a white umbrella on it.

W10P10 - The light of a candle

I know... I'm late this week... But here I go :)
Last week I read about a new photo challenge: Make a picture only with the light of a candle. Althoug I coundn't make it in time for submission, I still used the idea to try new things. Here comes two of the results!

Both were made with the Canon T1i, using a tripod. First was on 1/3s, f/4.5, ISO 800 at 60mm (96mm equivalent).
Second was on 1/25s, f/4.5, ISO800 and it portraits Aline (she was of GREAT help during all the exercise!
